But for DRex, new music was never far away. It wouldn’t be long before he was campaigning for a DRex new single, “Where You From”, now available on iTunes and YouTube, and telling his truth to more and more fans online and in local clubs. Background Rap DRex and his Raw Ent street team set out to hit the streets grinding his newest mixtape entitled “The Streets is Watching,” hosted by DJ Bigga Rankin, one of the hottest DJs down south. This mixtape is also on Datpiff.com, and features tracks from Hell Rell and Gorilla Zoe. Successful rappers need the right street cred, and DRex worked that in with other established artists: Hell Rell (Dipset) – (formerly with “The Diplomats”; first solo rap album: “For the Hell of It”) Diamond (Crime Mobb) – (BET award for best female Hip-Hop artist) Gorilla Zoe – (former member of Boyz N Da Hood; solo album “Welcome to the Zoo,” 2007) Papoose – (broke in with single “Alphabetical Slaughter”; lucrative deal with Jive Records) Along with his work with fellow rappers, DRex has mixed with producers Wil C – Streetheat Ceo, Sy Fire, and Melody Child, and his work is gaining more traction with WorldstarHiphop.com, YouTube, and many other sites.
