Who Is Penny the MC?
In this day and age, the
hunger and thirst of inspiring music is what led to the concept and production
of his music. Journey with Penny the MC,
born in the boogie down Bronx, New York, who for the last 9 years has been
living in Phoenix, Arizona. Recording
and performing throughout the local hip hop circuit as a member of the Writers
Guild, Penny the MC brings a unique blend of social, street and political insights
through melodic productions from Slopfunkdust and Merk Haze.
In 2012, Penny released a mixtape consisting of 11 freestyles that were released Every Friday for 11 weeks turning into what would officially become "Freestyle Fridays." DJ DN3 mixed every freestyle and released the collection as the official “Freestyle Friday” mixtape.
In 2014, Penny dropped his
long awaited follow-up album, “You Can All Die Now,” (http://www.pennythegreat.bandcamp.com/) which is currently being featured on major music blog sites like
Thisis50.com and VladTV.com, and his
current single in rotation “Hotboxin” dropped on ITunes (https://itun.es/i6Bx7LS). An
accompanying “Hotboxin” video is posted on YouTube (http://youtu.be/8nl4U2lEcPw).
Citing that his ‘life is his
music,’ Penny the MC is a force to be reckoned with on the mic, and his lyrics
are comparable to the real East Coast-style lyricists of the past. The culture is back…
