Hey everyone it's me Ms.Charleesmiles I am going to be sitting down with an old friend of mine who is a very out spoken on life and the Music Industry. This interview is not for everyone so this is my disclaimer to you the reading public. Hello DjBigO317 how are you? Im good just koolin Ms.Charleesmiles how are you. So how is your company been doing? Oh Trucker Bangin Ent.Llc http://TruckerBanginEnt.com is been doing great, its that time of year everyone is tring to get there music heard. I see your always out on the road.

So tell the people what you have been doing in 2013 I keep seen major things poppin off for some of your past clients, like Friedel Pinkston aka Sy Yung? DjBigO317: Yeah back in 2009 when I meet Sy Yung I told him to always make him self marketable to get into Acting, Modeling to help his Music career push his visual presents out there since he was residing in Atlanta,Ga. Long story short on April 12 2013 he was featured in a major motion picture titled "42" The Jackie Robinson Story staring Harrison Ford & Chadwick Bossman. Charleesmiles: Ok your been real relaxed like its nothing to you? DjBigO317: Naw its not that I can't say to much because he is signed with a record label, there responsible to do the (PR) if they know what there doing. They not paying me so I'm not doing nothing but what I want to do! Charleesmiles: Oh my, I take it you are really mad? DjBigO317: Honestly I'm like Pissed & Disappointed cause Sy Yung has so much talent but its the wrong people around him that are really holding him back, People only hold you back if you let them. Charleesmiles: What is the money song for Sy Yung that would break down the doors to the labels? DjBigO317: His single from a couple years ago called "Bring it Back". Charleesmiles: Why "Bring it Back"? DjBigO317: Its had that (AC) appeal or as black folks say the crossover appeal. Charleesmiles: I remember he was always coming up to the midwest for the longest of times, what happened? DjBigO317: I have no clue to be honest. Charleesmiles: Do you and Sy still speak? DjBigO317: We have not for a few months now. Charleesmiles: If you say anything to him Sy Yung, what would it be? DjBigO317: I still want that video for "Bring it Back" and I don't know whats going on but I wanna wish you the best in your career moves! Life goes on so keep shooting for the moon, if you miss you will hit the stars.

Charleesmiles: Wow that was Raw & Real from DjBigO317, I think more personal cause all the years they had been working toagther so I am goin to flip it a bit.

Charleesmiles: Rep yo city and tell the readers what it has been like for you in the Music Industry? DjBigO317: Hahaha well currently I Rep the Midwest I live in Indianapolis,Indiana. I grew up down south of here in Fort Knox,Ky that is south of Louisville. Well I got my start in Djing by way of Louisville,Ky thru a guy named Dj Bam. When I was a shorty I used to watch Dj Bam and his crew rock out on the weekends on the westend at Shawnee Park. Djing happened to me by a freak accident, I used to be a (B-Boy) a pretty boy and a damn great Break Dance, I got hurt it was a freak accident while dancing, the doctors said your break dancing days are over. I was sick to my stomach cause break dancing was keeping me out of the streets. I still wanted to be apart of my crew but I didn't know what I wanted to do or could do. One weekend my crew had a battle (dancing) at Broadway Skating Rink I meet the Dj, i forgot his name but he asked me to help him dj, he wanted to take a break he said "Don't let the music stop" & I didn't! I interned at WLOU 1350 am off of 22nd & Broadway right there in Louisville, we didn't have a Fm station that would play Hip Hop Music. Hip Hop Music in the 80's was really untested so radio stations were scared to play it or were just not allowing it period in a market like Louisville.

Charleesmiles: What is your thought on the state of the Music Industry? DjBigO317: Can I lie? Its perfect everything is all gravy........ yeah right its really Fucked Up, Serious you have Dj's in the South talking cash shit & over charging Indie Artist. You have the record labels who don't respect the the dj's worth. I mean I can go on and on, long story short its all Fucked Up Period.

Charleesmiles: Wow those are some strong feeling that you just expressed, ok so you been around involved in the music industry for many moons just how long have you been in volved? DjBigO317: Since 1986 on the serious side, I got just about got 30 years on the scene of this thing we call the Music Industry.

Charleesmiles: What are some of the most (OMG) I can't believe that just happen in front of me while touring, djing and working at the radio staions? DjBigO317: The ladies when I traveled around the world  with artists will do anything and everything... just so they can get with the stars!! I am gonna leave it at that.

Charleesmiles: How long do you plan on staying in the Music Industry? DjBigO317: Well I retired back in 2007 after been shot in a Atlanta Nite Club while djing with another dj. But in 2009 I came back out of retirement because I heard this artist named Friedel Pinkston up in Catersville,Ga his stage name is Sy Yung. Thats when I knew I was not ready to leave the Music Business along, its apart of my soul its who I am. I am going to stay involved until the day I pass on. My youngest son (15) Marquise Jackson aka DjSquad574 is up next so he is my personal project, I am going to tech him everything I know & support him 100% for him to succeed in this nasty biz.

Charleesmiles: Lets talk Dj Coalitions, how do you feel about them are they really effective? DjBigO317: 1st I wanna Salute the O.G Dj Johnny O of Nerve Djs, for even extending an invitation for me to join a great family environment, I didn't use the word coalition cause its miss used and miss understood. So I'm a proud member of the Nerve Djs. Now as far as the others, my big mama always told me if you don't have anything nice to say then just keep your mouth closed period!! I still feel djs are still effective because they are the "Spinal cord" of the entertainment field.
Charleesmiles: Let talk about some big things I been reading about involving Mr.DjBigO317, would you care to tell these readers what your cooking up? DjBigO317: Sure I was just signed as the President of Operations & Radio Placements for NuOrder Entertainment Music Group llc. Simply put I make sure the labels radio ready music gets out to all the media outlets, ensuring that all music is encoded in BDS, Mediabase & ready for Itunes, Amazon and all other Digital Media Retail outlets. Insuring that videos are MtvJamz ready, Vevo ready among other things like setting up interviews at radio stations.

Charleesmiles: So if you had to give any advice about this music biz what would it be? DjBigO317: Well understand what your about to get into, research create a business plan of plan of action. Always build relationships and don't trust everyone you meet period always remember action speak louder than words always. In the 30 years I have I can say I have less then 10 Real True contacts in my phone out of 3500 phone numbers I have. It tells you there are that many snakes out there so keep your grass cut low!! For example look at Gansta Boo & Drumma Boy they are doing things on the Indie side & making great money do to the relationships they have built over the years.

Charleesmiles: With that been said I wanna thank you for taking the time out of you busy busy road schedule were can the readers find you at to hire you for your services? DjBigO317: Thank you for even taking an interest in letting me speak on a few things.. alot of folks are scared to really speak to me by doin an interview with me cause I'm like really Raw & Real.. No Politics over here! But you all can look me up on my website http://TruckerBanginEnt.com thanks my company I own run & operate with my son DjSquad574.  Atlanta Rapper Friedel "Sy Yung" Pinkston hits 1st move role in "42" The Jackie Robinson Story
By NerveDjs own DjBigO317
Dreams do come true when one door closes another one opens a real american story of "Sy Yung"

Meet Friedel "Sy Yung" Pinkston one of the 1st Serious Young Artist that I started working with back in 2009, Born Friedel Pinkston was raised in Hartwell a small town in Northeast georiga. He grew up in a urban area influenced by sports and music. Though some of Sy Yung's peers were involved in street activities, Sy Yung sought out better ways to be successful. Coming out of a small town Sy was recruited by MLB scouts and traveled the world constantly displaying his talents on the field. Before he graduated High School he worked his way to be one of the Top 5 Pitchers in the country. Working his way to the Top 5 of the MLB draft charts in the nation which he achieved All-American Honors. But due to an unexpected injury that dream fell through and his ambition has ventured him into his second love Music.

I salute him cause he and his music got me "DjBigO317 out of retirement... thats how Great his Music really is. It takes a special person to have a great personality to weather the lies & bullshit the Music Industry keeps throwing up. I told him in 2009 don't just do Music but also do Modeling & Acting thats how you build your brand... in April 2013 his life will change forever, he has a small part in a Major League Big Screen Movie. He will be in "42" The Jackie Robinson Story with Chadwick Boseman & Harrison Ford!! Please Share with ur Friends & Family Thank You

PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Parent Efforts Prompt MTV DJ to perform
at STEAM Academy
In support of Anti-bullying campaign
Benton Harbor, MI

On Monday, March 4th at 1:30 PM, the students at STEAM Academy in Benton Harbor
Michigan will be treated to an anti-bully music performance by NerveDjs own
DJBigO317 and MTV’s Kcane Markco.
In the fall, teachers and staff set out to make changes to the climate and culture at the
school and parents eagerly joined. Parents of the school, alongside staff, organized
and funded a Valentine’s Day dance at the end of the school day that was only open to
students that had demonstrated positive, respectful, non-aggressive behavior since the
fall. Over 290 students out of about 400 were invited and remarked how it was the best
dance ever.
“In my 19 years with the district, it was unlike any dance that I have ever experienced,”
says Principal April Margaritis. “The students had fun, felt safe and look forward to
being invited to the next dance.” The dance prompted behaviors from students that
allowed the teachers and staff to have fun together and build strong trusting
relationships. Building these relationships is important so students who experience or
witness acts of aggression will say something and get help.
The DJ at the dance was so moved by what he saw, he contacted friends in the music
industry and they took notice.

With 30 years in the music industry, affiliated with NerveDJs, DjBigO317 Oliver Jackson
of Southbend, Indiana joins forces with Mtv’s own Kcane Markco of St. Louis as they
sweep the country side with their Anti-Bullying campaign.
They visit different elementary, middle, high schools, and colleges addressing the
student body on bullying and harassment. Letting the students know, “That it’s cool to
be in school, it’s not cool to be a bully in school!”
The program is suitable for all ages!!! “Our focus is to build awareness before any
tragedies strike!”

What U need to KNOW & DO when releasing music on the Net, Satellite Radio or other music services

What U need to KNOW & DO when releasing music on the Net, Satellite Radio or other music services
By: DjBigO317

If you plan on releasing your music on the Net, through satellite radio, or via music services like Muzak, you’ll need to understand the following.

A lot of information on a music CD isn’t music. Some of it are codes that help trace the uses and sales of your music online. Without them there is a good chance you’ll miss out on royalties owed you.
The four important codes you’ll need are:

1. Universal Product Code (UPC): This is also known as a “bar code” and it is attached to nearly every packaged product available in retail stores. Each product has a unique 12-digit number, encoded in the bars, which are scanned upon purchase and allow for the tracking of inventory and sales.

Most music chains no longer carry non-UPC products (because they can’t scan them at the cash register), and major label A&R departments conduct much of their market research on unsigned bands and indie labels by checking Soundscan sales on the retail level.

Nielsen Soundscan collects UPC sales data from over 10,000 outlets in the U.S. and Canada to compile its weekly list of music sales, which are published online (www.soundscan.com). These reports are an important ingredient in the weekly Billboard charts.

You can get a barcode either through the Uniform Code Council (www.uccouncil.org) for about $500, or from any number of music services (e.g., indie retailer CD Baby or CD manufacturer Oasis) for a lot less money. Of course, getting a barcode is one thing, subscribing to Soundscan reports is another, and costs are high (best to find a buddy who works at a record store that subscribes and view the report that way).
2. ISRC (International Standard Recording Code): The ISRC is a relatively new international identification system for sound recordings and music DVDs. The 12-character alphanumeric ISRC functions as a digital “fingerprint” for each track. Each ISRC is a unique and permanent identifier for a specific recording, to help identify recordings for royalty payments. It is assigned per track, not per CD. Unlike UPCs, the ISRC is tied to the track, not the carrier of the track.

No one knows which code will end up being the universal identifier for digital music tracks, but the ISRC is a good start (even though the RIAA runs the program). It’s smart to identify your recordings this way. They are embedded in the metadata of your CD during the mastering phase. Make sure you let your CD manufacturer know these codes are in your master. If your CD manufacturer doesn’t know about ISRCs, find one that does.

ISRC codes can be obtained by both large and small music companies, even single artist labels. The full application process can be performed online and via email. Those based in the U.S. can download forms and get further information at: www.riaa.com . If you are based outside the U.S., visit http://ifpi.org/isrc for the information you need.

3. CD Text: “CD Text” is information about the release that can be encoded as a separate file on an audio CD. It stores information like the album and song titles. When playing back an audio CD containing CD Text information on a CD Text-enabled player (usually an LCD screen), the listener will be able to read this information on the display panel. It’s displayed only on CD or DVD players, not on the desktop of most computers. One fast-growing space for these displays is satellite-radio-enabled cars.
Since its part of the Red Book standard, CD Text info can be entered onto a CD master quite easily using the “table of contents” in the appropriate CD sub channel. Like the ISRC, this happens during the mastering phase of your recording. Be sure to plan ahead for this.

4. CDDB (CD Data Base): CDDB is a database for software applications to look up CD information over the Internet. You’ve probably noticed it when ever you’ve imported a CD into your computer’s music library. Most of what you see is the work of one company, Gracenote, which has been entering the identity of every CD track for many years now.

It was designed around the task of identifying entire CDs, not merely single tracks. The identification process involves creating a “discid,” a sort of “fingerprint” of a CD created by performing calculations on the track duration information stored in the table-of-contents of the CD.

There are alternatives to Gracenotes’s proprietary CDDB. These include FreeDB, MusicBrainz and All Media Guide’s AMG LASSO. Gracenote will eventually pick up on your CD, but it’s not a bad idea to send the information in yourself. To submit to Gracenote’s database go to: http://gracenote.com and read the FAQs under “Company Info.”

Keep good records of all this information to ensure accurate and comprehensive monitoring of your music’s uses in the digital age.

Barcode Notification:
Companies like Disc Makers will provide a barcode on the back of your CD when providing duplication.
This code is not registered or connected to soundscan. Its important to buy a barcode before pressing your CD. Barcode stickers are a good alternative if the code was purchased after duplication.
To apply for a barcode with the UCC go to www.uccouncil.org
Once you have completed the registration your barcode will arrive in about 2-3 weeks.
Upon receiving the code log onto www.soundscan.com to connect your barcode for calculation of sales.
There are several companies that sell less expensive barcode’s including http://www.tunecore.com/ and http://www.cdbaby.com/

Tunecore provide’s a FREE barcode when using their service to distribute your music online. The barcode is given at the end with your registration confirmation. This code can be linked to soundscan to track all online sales and contribute to Billboard Top 20 Sales Chart.

Due to cost, not all stores are registered with soundscan, Artist that sell on consignment should ask the store owner or manager if their cash register is connect to the systems..something to keep in mind when selling in your state or area.

Nielsen BDS information is utilized exclusively by Billboard, and R&R (Radio & Records) in determining their radio airplay music charts.

Music Publishing- The music publisher is a company that owns the copyright. The music publisher has total control over when and where the song is played. They also control the songs royalties and collect the money from the people that sell, perform, or change the song in any way. As a songwriter you would either create your own music publishing company or you would sell your songs to a music publisher that is more established.

Performance Royalties- Every time a song is on TV, radio, played in clubs, restaurants, etc.. The party playing the song must pay for the performance.

Music Publishing Agreement- A music publisher get’s ownership of a song by signing a music publisher agreement with the songwriter. Usually the music publisher agreement provides for the songwriter to continue receiving income as the song earns money. The song writers portion usually ranges around 60-75% of the total income from the song.
